In episode two of FOLLOW THE FOLLOWING your hosts Doc Rotten and Dave Dreher go deep inside the episode as Ryan Hardy gets drawn deeper into the world of “The Carrollers” and Joe Carroll rediscovers the joy of the kill.
While season one of THE FOLLOWING was certainly a strong debut it seems that season two just might be something special and as such worthy of its own podcast. Your hosts Doc Rotten and Dave Dreher have certainly taken notice and feel discussion is a must. Join us this and every week as we rundown the episode and offer insight into what the future may hold.
As episode two opens we are drawn into the world of Joe Carroll, now going by the name of Darryl as he carves out a life of hiding. We join back up with Luke and Mark as they once again go on the hunt and begin a cat and mouse game with Ryan and the lone survivor of the subway attack with whom Ryan has grown fond.
Meanwhile back at the trailer things have gotten intense with Joe/Daryl when he needs to kill to protect his secret. To say things quickly spiral out of control would be the understatement of the week. It’s an action packed episode and Doc and Dave lead you through it all.
Two new features also get introduced this week as Dave points out the “Plot hole of the Week” and Doc amazes all when he “Put’s a name to the Face”.
As always we want your feedback so drop us a line at docrotten@horrornewstv.com or dave@horrornewstv.com and we’ll talk next week as we continue to FOLLOW THE FOLLOWING.
For the inaugural episode of FOLLOW THE FOLLOWING Doc Rotten and co-host Dave Dreher introduce you to the hit FOX series THE FOLLOWING starring Kevin Bacon and James Purefoy. Starting off its second season in grand style and adding some new characters to the mix THE FOLLOWING could be the genre show of the season.
We begin this episode with a quick flashback to the end of season one where the cliffhanger ending is quickly disposed of and we find ourselves at the one-year anniversary of Joe Carroll’s (James Purefoy) death. Ryan Hardy (Kevin Bacon) has moved past the traumatic events and seems well on the road to recovery until a vicious subway attack by a group of folks wearing creepy Joe Carroll masks pulls Hardy back into the nightmare.
Doc and Dave discuss the events as well as the new characters added for this season.
Both agree that the addition of Sam Underwood in the role of psychotic twins Luke and Mark may just be the casting coup of the season.
As the episode progresses the surprises mount and Doc and Dave share it all with you.
As always we want your feedback so drop us a line at docrotten@horrornewstv.com or dave@horrornewstv.com and we’ll talk next week when we FOLLOW THE FOLLOWING.

Arguably the start of the Universal Monster craze, Dracula released in 1931 stars Bela Lugosi as Bram Stoker’s lead vampire, Dracula. Tod Browning directs the first vampire film with Dracula in the title, a film that frightened audiences with its initial release. Dracula begins the Golden Age of Horror podcast with hosts Dave Dreher and Doc Rotten as they cover the films from the beginning of the horror genre.
Originally set to be a reunion for director Tod Browning and star Lon Chaney, Sr., Dracula is a film that started as a monumental epic from Universal producer Carl Laemmle, Jr. Sadly, Chaney succumbs to throat cancer before filming can begin and is replaced by the stage actor who played the title role on Broadway, Bela Lugosi. Edward Van Sloan signs on to play Van Helsing and David Manners is given the role of John Harker with Helen Chandler as Mina and Frances Dade as Lucy. Dwight Frye makes a lasting impression as Renfield driven mad by Dracula’s influence, eating flies, bugs and rats. His laugh alone is chilling. But it is Lugosi who owns the film and sets the film firmly into the halls of horror history.
Dave Dreher, the lead news writer for HorrorNews.Net, is joined by Doc Rotten from Monster Movie Podcast and the American Horror Story Fan podcast to begin a journey through the origins of terror cinema, the Golden Age of Horror. Starting off by concentrating on the Universal Films, the podcast will stretch out to cover other films of the 20s through the 50s such as The Fly, King Kong, The Uninvited, The Thing from Another World and House of Wax and many, many more. Both co-hosts are huge fans of the early films of the genre having watched the films when they were children in the age when Shock Theater was on weekend television, usually paired with a horror host and are both contributors to HorrorNews.Net and other online horror outlets.
Be sure to contact us with any questions, suggestions or reaction. Let us know what your favorite Universal Horror film is and what films you want the Golden Age of Horror to cover in future episodes. What is your most cherished memory with these classic films? What was the first Horror Film you watched? Or send us photos of your coolest horror collectible or memorabilia. As always, thanks for listening and welcome to the show.

Halloween III Season of the Witch represents the perfect idea gone wrong. John Carpenter and Debra Hill decide to create a franchise where every Halloween a new horror film is released feature monsters and terror surrounding the beloved holiday: a new terrifying story each and every year, an annual event to delight horror fans across the globe. What the delivered, however, was a film drop into an existing franchise that featured a well-known, popular knife wielding maniac named Michael Myer. The film which was initially pans by critics and fans alike is now considered a cult classic and is loved by scores of horror fans who are able to look at it without the stigma of being a part of the Halloween franchise. Doc Rotten and Ormon Grimsby take a fresh look at the film attempting to review the film on its own merits.
