The Human Race (2013) from director Paul Hough spins a combination of Battle Royale and Saw on its ears creating a terrifying tale that has Santos Ellin Jr. and Vixen singing its praises while Doc and Thomas are far less impressed. Kudos to Eddie McGee for portraying a complex heroic character. "Run or Die!"

Doc steps in for Dave this week to bring the news of the week with Robert Englund (returning as Freddy Kruger for one night only) , Paranormal Activity 5 and Z Nation while Thomas revisits season four of  Game of Thrones in this week's What  Have  You Been Watching segment. Doc and Santos also recap the highlights from the season seven premiere of True Blood.

Co-hosts Doc RottenSantos (The Black Saint) Ellin Jr., Thomas Mariani and Vixen, the Voice of Reason, are back again this week to give you the best in horror as they recap, review and obliterate all that is horror this week!  Be on the lookout for the HNR crew at the MonsterCon toy and comic convention in Greenville, South Carolina July 18-20, 2014.

The Human Race (2014)
"If you are lapped twice, you die. If you step off the path, you die. If you touch the grass, you will die!" The tag line sets up the story at its base, 80 strangers from a single city block are transported to a mysterious track where they must keep running to survive. The Human Race thrills Santos and Vixen with its gory thrills (exploding heads!) and interesting characters while Thomas is frustrated by the script, the redundant kills and the overplayed soundtrack. The HNR grue-crew go at, love it or hate it, the discussion is lively.

Horror News of the Week for 06/23/2014
Dave Dreher may be out this week but Doc steps in to  shares the Horror News of the Week beginning with news of  Robert Englund appearing in full Freddy Kruger make-up for one weekend only for the Flashback Weekend this fall (Oct 2014). Silent Night, Deadly Night gets a 30th anniversary BluRay from Anchor Bay this September. The director behind the upcoming Dr. Strange from Marvel, Scott Derrickson, is set to direct a feature length version of Outer Limits. Doc is devastated the Paranormal Activity 5 is being pushed back to 2016 but is thrilled that the upcoming Friday the 13th film will be in 3D. The grue-crew take another look at the Z Nation TV show from SyFy and Asylum.

What Have You Been Watching: Game of Thrones & True Blood
Thomas is all about season 4 of Game of Thrones as he and Doc revisit the highlights of the year. Doc is all about "The Mountain and the Viper" as Santos watches the scene in the background for the very first time. OMG! Oh, the bloody gore of it all. While Game of Thrones gets high praises, the season 7 premiere of True Blood gets a far less enthusiastic review from Doc.

Stump the Saint for 06/23/2014
Santos faces three horror movie trivia questions from the Horror News Radio listeners again this week in the Stump the Saint segment. Mick St. John, Jason Hawkins and Joseph Perry supplies this week's challenging trivia with nods towards Scooby Doo, Ruth Gordon and a mysterious Satan film from the late 70's/early 80's.

Willow Creek (2013)
Bobcat Goldthwait. Bigfoot. Found Footage. It's a recipe for the bizarre from a unique visionary tackling his first horror film with Willow Creek. The film follows the trails blazed by Blair Witch Project to capture your breath in a brilliant extended scene where the lead characters are trapped in their tent as the sounds of terror surround them. Terrifying film.

And Kevin Williamson is leaving The Following in capable hands as he moves on to other projects.

What Have You Been Watching: How to Train Your Dragon 2
Dave and Santos have seen this weekend's hit animated film and  have glorious things to say about How to Train Your Dragon 2. Both highly recommend this family film for all genre fans as well while suggesting that 3D is the way to see it.

Over the past decade, films continue to mine the wealth of material originating from the comic book world, even horror. The Walking Dead, anyone? But what does it take to translate that material into a screenplay that will attract a studio and a director or find actors such as Bill Oberst Jr, Naomi Grossman, Zach Galligan and Brian Thompson to sign on and promote? This episode takes a look into one man's adventure into adapting his own material, The Chair, into a feature film.

Welcome to another episode of The Future of Horror, an interview podcast featuring new, upcoming talent in horror, The show is a sibling podcast to Horror News Radio, the official HorrorNews.Net podcast. With each episode, the show’s host, Doc Rotten, spotlights a director, an actor, a screenwriter, an effects artists, a film maker conquering hurdles and barriers to get their films made, to follow their passion, to make horror films.

Creator, Artist, Writer Peter Simeti  joins Doc to discuss his comic company, Alterna Comics, his hit graphic novel, The Chair, and his journey in taking his property to film. He shares how producers first approached him about the comic and what it took to develop a script that would excite interested parties into joining his cause. He reveals the director and much of the cast including how he met with them to convince each to sign onto the project with a few surprises included.

Join us this week as we revisit and remember the excellent of Ghostbusters (1984) for its 30th Anniversary on episode 67 of the Monster Movie Podcast. The podcast takes a loving and hilarious look back at Dr. Peter Venkman, Dr. Raymond Stanz and Dr. Egon Spengler as they are joined by Winston Zeddemore to save Dana Barrett (and, yes, Louis Tully) from the world conquering Gozer.

This episode also marks the return of co-host Thomas Mariani who first visited the show one year ago. Coincidence? We think not. Wha? C'mon, just play along here.

"I'm worried, Ray. It's getting crowded in there and all my data points to something big on the horizon." - Egon.

"What do you mean, big?" - Winston.

"Well, let's say this Twinkie represents the normal amount of psychokinetic energy in the New York area. Based on this morning's sample, it would be a Twinkie... thirty-five feet long, weighing approximately six hundred pounds." - Egon

"That's one big Twinkie." - Winston.

It is lines like this and the chemistry between the film's stars, Bill Murray, Dan Aykroyd and Harold Ramos , that solidify the importance and impact of Ghostbusters. The film is known for instantly conquering the Summer of 1984 with its catchy (and later controversial) theme song, it's fun jovial attitude and its delightful scares and thrills. Sigourney Weaver is breathtaking as Dana Barrett instantly winning Venkman's heart - and the audiences' as well. And let's not forget Slimer, Gozer, the Terror Dogs and the Stay Puft Marshmallow Man. Thomas and Doc relive every moment, every thrill as they celebrate the film's 30th anniversary. Join them in the excitement.
