Join us this week as we revisit and remember the original Planet of the Apes franchise, the first five classic sci-fi films. Planet of the Apes (1968), Beneath the Planet of the Apes (1970), Escape from the Planet of the Apes (1971), Conquest of the Planet of the Apes (1972) and Battle for the Planet of the Apes (1973). Relive the the gripping stories, the incredible make-up and the memorable lines such as "Take your stinking paws off me, you damn dirty ape!" It's all here along with a healthy dose of love for Roddy McDowall (Cornelius and Caesar).

"Beware the beast Man, for he is the Devil's pawn. Alone among God's primates, he kills for sport or lust or greed. Yea, he will murder his brother to possess his brother's land. Let him not breed in great numbers, for he will make a desert of his home and yours. Shun him; drive him back into his jungle lair, for he is the harbinger of death." - Cornelius

Thomas Mariani returns once again to join Doc Rotten to celebrate classic monster movies from the past. To examine the Planet of the Apes films, The Black Saint (Santo Ellin Jr.) from HorrorNews.Net steps in to round out the panel of horror and sci-fans examining the original 5 films about George Taylor, Zira, Cornelius, Dr. Zaius and the lovely Nova.

The original Planet of the Apes (1968) represents a remarkable achievement in sci-fi films with its incredible make-up for the apes that populate the desolate future of mankind. Shocking for its time, the film is now a classic with its scenes, characters and lines at the top of the minds of audiences and fans world wide. Before Star Wars and perhaps even more than Star Trek, Planet of the Apes sparks a marketing a machine of sequels and merchandise that would delight kids and adults of the early Seventies. Roddy McDowall is the star of four of the five films and the TV series from 1974 where he would play three distinctly separate simian characters. From Planet of the Apes to Battle for the Planet of the Apes, the original franchise is a must-see collection of films. In preparation for Dawn of the Planet of the Apes (2014), Doc, Thomas and The Black Saint revisit the films and their impact and influence on the Monster Movie Podcast.

Deliver Us From Evil (2014) is the latest horror film from director Scott (Sinister) Derrickson about a cop (Eric Bana) who discovers a strange killer who may be possessed. Dave is ecstatic that the HNR crew is finally getting back to a full-fledged theatrical horror film; however, the box office results do not support that the audience was interested in seeing a blend of The Exorcist and Seven.

Dave ramps up the news of the week with The GuestABCs of Death 2 and Sharknado 2: The Second One while Santos continues with HNR's popular segment of the show, Stump the Saint, featuring horror trivia questions provided by you, the Horror News Radio listener! Thomas is on board to discuss the controversial film, Snowpiercer (2013).

Co-hosts Doc RottenSantos (The Black Saint) Ellin Jr., Dave Dreher, Thomas Mariani and Vixen, the voice of reason, are back again this week to give you the best in horror as they recap, review and obliterate all that is horror this week!  Be on the lookout for the HNR crew at MonsterCon toy and comic convention in Greenville, South Carolina July 18-20, 2014.

Deliver Us From Evil (2014)
The discussion of Deliver Us From Evil begins on a solid notes with Santos giving it a 3 star review but it quickly runs afoul as the rest chime in less and less favorable experiences. The film from Scott Derrickson is supposedly based on true events where a cop and a priest perform an exorcism on a possessed criminal. The film is atmospheric and looks great but the script is uneven and the acting is a mixed bag with Eric Bana's New York accent amusing Santos and Thomas.

Horror News of the Week for 07/07/2014
Dave Dreher  shares the Horror News of the Week beginning with news of  The Guest from Adam Wingard and Simon Barrett getting a September 2014 release date. Next up is disturbing news about The ABCs of Death 2 where the Soska Sisters (directors of one of the 26 chapters) released a graphic shot from the film which caused quite a stir on Facebook and other social media outlets. Dave shares the latest found footage trailer with Doc for the film The Expedition. And then follows it up with the trailer for the schlocky Sharnado 2: The Second One. Last up, Dave shares the alien cookie and other tasty genre treats from Christine McConnell, The Horror Baker.

What Have You Been Watching: Snowpiercer (2013)
Thomas steps up to discuss the much delayed film from director Bong Joon-ho, Snowpiercer. The hardest working man in podcasting champions the film siting its cinematography, direction and tone. Santos, however, who also saw the film, shares a different story. Gasp!

Stump the Saint for 07/07/2014
Santos Ellin Jr. is a horror historian, leading the country in horror trivia on the Quiz Up online game. He steps up to challenge you, the HNR listener to stump with trivia. Thus, Stump the Saint is born. The segment continues with three challenging questions from Paul Knoop, Floor Hockey Josh and the crew behind the Monster Movie Podcast. Now it is  your turn, go to http://horrornewsradio.com/trivia to submit your question to Stump the Saint.

The script follows two of them on the run with a 10 year old boy in tow. The plan is to escape Spain by traveling into France, but one town stands in the way: Zugarramurdi. Join us this week as we revisit and remember the excellent of Ghostbusters (1984) for its 30th Anniversary on episode 67 of the Monster Movie Podcast. The podcast takes a loving and hilarious look back at Dr. Peter Venkman, Dr. Raymond Stanz and Dr. Egon Spengler as they are joined by Winston Zeddemore to save Dana Barrett (and, yes, Louis Tully) from the world conquering Gozer.

This episode also marks the return of co-host Thomas Mariani who first visited the show one year ago. Coincidence? We think not. Wha? C'mon, just play along here.

"I'm worried, Ray. It's getting crowded in there and all my data points to something big on the horizon." - Egon.

"What do you mean, big?" - Winston.

"Well, let's say this Twinkie represents the normal amount of psychokinetic energy in the New York area. Based on this morning's sample, it would be a Twinkie... thirty-five feet long, weighing approximately six hundred pounds." - Egon

"That's one big Twinkie." - Winston.

It is lines like this and the chemistry between the film's stars, Bill Murray, Dan Aykroyd and Harold Ramos , that solidify the importance and impact of Ghostbusters. The film is known for instantly conquering the Summer of 1984 with its catchy (and later controversial) theme song, it's fun jovial attitude and its delightful scares and thrills. Sigourney Weaver is breathtaking as Dana Barrett instantly winning Venkman's heart - and the audiences' as well. And let's not forget Slimer, Gozer, the Terror Dogs and the Stay Puft Marshmallow Man. Thomas and Doc relive every moment, every thrill as they celebrate the film's 30th anniversary. Join them in the excitement.

"You've got a bloom! What is your secret?" Mason asks his sister Margot as the Verger clan unwittingly become part of Hannibal's designOr, does that design belong to Will? Episode 11 goes a long way in establishing just how creepy Mason Verger really is. Snort.

Hannibal is renewed for a third season and director Christopher G. Moore is officially welcomed aboard the Hannibal Fan Podcast as the fourth co-host for the show. It's a big news day and a big episode with lots of details to discuss.

Michael (Boardwalk Empire) Pitt paints a disgustingly vile figure with his version of Mason Verger. He is a despicable human being stealing the tears from a child and a child from his sister. Vile! But his song bird may be cooked as Will remains strong enough not to fall into Hannibal greater plan revealing the puppet master to the monster. Elsewhere, Alana Bloom is floored by a shocking reveal that has the audience and the podcast show's hosts breathing a sigh of relief. Thomas, Christopher, Dave and Doc examine each plot point with only 2 more show left.

After years in the business as a successful character actor, Jasper Cole is in the process of redefining his brand into what many are calling "Hollywood's Bad Guy." Knowing the roles that best suit the look and the talent is only just the beginning of understanding the audition process. Knowing how to approach the role, bringing the confidence of being the role and delivering the audition as if the cameras were rolling on the set are just several key techniques in landing the part, in making an impression and in networking. Jasper joins Doc on episode 15 to share his thoughts on how his successful career has landed him over 115 screen credits...and counting.

Welcome to another episode of The Future of Horror, an interview podcast featuring new, upcoming talent in horror, The show is a sibling podcast to Horror News Radio, the official HorrorNews.Net podcast. With each episode, the show’s host, Doc Rotten, spotlights a director, an actor, a screenwriter, an effects artists, a film maker conquering hurdles and barriers to get their films made, to follow their passion, to make horror films.

Actor Jasper Cole  joins Doc to discuss his upcoming films, The Purge 2: Anarchy, Captured, Fields of the Undead, Model Home and entertainingly titled Savage Sistas. He shares how he approaches his auditions and determining the brand he is currently evolving into. He shares how networking gives actors the edge to get work with examples with Blumhouse Productions. It is a terrific interview with the man known as Hollywood's Bad Guy as we delve into what it takes to breath life into the heavy. Cinematic gold!

The Amazing Spider-Man 2 swings into the top box office spot this weekend with Marc Webb directing and Andrew Garfield starring as Peter Parker/Spider-Man. The film introduces Harry Osborn as the Green Goblin (Dane DeHaan), Max Dillon as Electro (Jamie Foxx) and Aleksei Sytsevich as The Rhino (Paul Giamatti). Is this shades of Batman and Robin syndrome? Say it isn't so!

Dave ramps up the news of the week with bits about Halloween 3, Dan Curtis' Dracula with Jack Palance and the epic battle promised in the upcoming American-ized Godzilla film.

Co-hosts Doc RottenSantos (The Black Saint) Ellin Jr., Dave Dreher and Thomas Mariani are back again this week to give you the best in horror as they recap, review and obliterate all that is horror this week!  The Black Saint's Horror Trivia Contest continues this week with the Anchor Bay Entertainment Blu-Ray Giveaway: Mr. Jones.

The Amazing Spider-Man 2 (2014)
Our favorite wall crawler returns in The Amazing Spider-Man 2 bringing with him Electro, The Green Goblin and The Rhino. To some this is all a big bag of nonsense, for others it is an emotional roller-coaster focusing on the story of Peter Parker and Gwen Stacy. Some of it works. Some of it fails miserably. The grue-crew has strong opinions on it, 'Nuff Said.

Horror News of the Week for 05/05/2014
Dave Dreher  shares the Horror News of the Week beginning with news of Halloween 3 which may or may not be in 3D. Stephen King fans are all excited about the promo for his next novel Mr. Mercedes. Was that Pennywise? Not many horror fans are aware that horror great Dan Curtis produced and directed a televised version of Dracula starring Jack Palance. The film is getting a Blu-Ray release. More Godzilla news building up to a battle of kaiju monsters. Finally, the WGN television show Salem is getting renewed and Doc has something to say about this!
