Every actor has a fit, a character mold, that they build their careers on and expand from, at least starting out. The bad guy, the girl next door, the cop, the angel. It is an approach to finding roles and networking that can create a successful and lucritive brand. There is a delicate balance between working a brand and being typecast. Actor Andy Gates joins us to discuss the evolution of his brand as the guy next door, the every man and the roles landed with this approach.

Welcome to another episode of The Future of Horror, an interview podcast featuring new, upcoming talent in horror, The show is a sibling podcast to Horror News Radio, the official HorrorNews.Net podcast. With each episode, the show’s host, Doc Rotten, spotlights a director, an actor, a screenwriter, an effects artists, a film maker conquering hurdles and barriers to get their films made, to follow their passion, to make horror films.

Actor Andy Gates joins Doc to discuss his career, his brand and his approach to auditioning and networking. It all ties together. He shares how he gain confidence over time, growing more and more comfortable with his brand and how it helps him approach auditions and networking with that brand  in mind. He touches on when working against the mold works to his advantage as well. He also discusses the films he has worked on and the lead role of Donald Conlee in the upcoming horror feature, Dead Afterlife.

Godzilla (2014) is the hottest monster film of the summer of 2014 with an epic battle between the King of the Monsters and a pair of kaiju creatures called M.U.T.O. SFX Artist Vincent Guastini (Monsters TV, Dogma, VHS 3: Viral) joins the grue-crew to take a bite out of the mammoth $93 million haul the film earned its opening weekend. "I am enchanted ... and ...terrified." Tonight is the night, the confrontation between Hannibal Lecter and Mason Verger with Will Graham caught in the middle. And Hannibal does not disappoint in what is quite possibly the best show of the season featuring Michael Pitt giving what should be an award winning performance. The entire sequence between Hannibal and Mason while Mason is under the influence is incredibly entertaining and has co-hosts, Thomas, Dave, Doc and Christopher, smiling from ear to ear.

The penultimate episode of NBC's hit horror tv show Hannibal is brilliant. Director Christopher G. Moore is back to guide show hosts Thomas, Dave and Doc through each and every conversation in Tome-Wan between Hannibal and Will and Hannibal and Mason and Jack and Will. Thomas is thrilled with the Mason line "I have a taste and consistency that's similar to a a chicken gizzard. I'm full of myself!" while Doc likes the whole bit about "Eat my nose?" Or it may be Mason's confession that he planned to feed Will to the pigs or Hannibal's gaping glance at Mason sticking his father's knife into Hannibal's chair. The show is full of little nuggets - incredible television.

The Amazing Spider-Man 2 (2014)
Our favorite wall crawler returns in The Amazing Spider-Man 2 bringing with him Electro, The Green Goblin and The Rhino. To some this is all a big bag of nonsense, for others it is an emotional roller-coaster focusing on the story of Peter Parker and Gwen Stacy. Some of it works. Some of it fails miserably. The grue-crew has strong opinions on it, 'Nuff Said.

"This little piggy went EEEEEHHHHH all the way home?" Mason Verger terrorizes his sister Margot as he drops a meat puppet version of her into a pit of hungry pigs. Thomas, Dave and Doc are once again joined by director Christopher G. Moore to discuss NBC's hit television show Hannibal. But what is the meaning of long pig. Oh, Freddie.

Finally, we are introduced to the long anticipated character, Mason Verger portrayed by Michael (Boardwalk Empire) Pitt. Who knew he would end up a mix of a random James Bond villain and 80's pop star Thomas Dolby. Regardless he is ever bit as unnerving as expected. The show goes into bizarre territories with a blend of two simultaneous love scenes between Will & Margot and Hannibal & Alana with a little of the Hannibalized-Wendigo sprinkled in for good measure. It is a shocking episode that puts Will in a very precarious place, no longer seeing good and evil.

As always we want your feedback so drop us a line at thomas@horrornewstv.com or dave@horrornewstv.com or docrotten@horrornewstv.com and we’ll talk next week as we continue to bring you our recipe for fear with HORROR NEWS TV HANNIBAL FAN PODCAST.
