Join us this week as we take a look at ten horror films screened at the 16th Annual Nevermore Film Festival in Durham, North Carolina. The festival, which plays at the Carolina Theater, is one of the best, more intimate, horror festivals on the circuit bringing many unseen and low budget, independent genre films to the big screen. This year's group contains found footage, home invasion, werewolves, Sasquatch creatures, Spanish demon heavy metal puppets of death and a few surprises.

Doc Rotten is joined by avid horror fan and NC Film Maker, Paul Cardillo (Fix It In Post). Together they take a look at each of the ten films from the Nevermore Film Festival. Between the two of them, they were able to catch each major entry in the festival. While Doc favors Dig Two Graves and Pieces of Talent, Paul provides a terrific argument that Savageland and Blood Punch may be the best in a long time. The selection provides a variety of genre favorites, gore, effects and solid character development. Oh, yeah, and puppets made out of trash bags...

Writer-Director Steve Wolsh ushers his effects heavy horror film Muck to VOD and Blu-Ray courtesy Anchor Bay Entertainment this week and into the hands of the Grue-crew. Uh, oh. Review: Muck (2015)

The much anticipated horror movie MUCK elicits an unexpected unilateral reaction to the film from the Grue-crew. The gore-filled creature feature from director Steve Wolsh stars horror legend Kane Hodder, Jaclyn Swedberg and Lachlan Buchanan. The story centers around a group of friends escaping the marshes surrounding Cap Cod only to find their night evolves into a living nightmare. You may never guess what the Muck happens on this episode...

Review: Valley of the Sasquatch (2015)

Bill Oberst Jr. stars in John Portanova's well crafted Bigfoot film VALLEY OF THE SASQUATCH. The film benefits from focusing on the characters, a dysfunctional father and son dealing with the loss of the boy's mother, relocating to a run-down family shack deep in the woods and surviving an attack from a trio of pissed-off hairy creatures hunting them down. Focusing on the family and characters, Valley of the Sasquatch delivers a strong entry into the Bigfoot sub-genre.

Review: Chappie (2015)

With the news that director Neill Blomkamp has signed on to do the next ALIEN film, all eyes are on his current theatrical release CHAPPIE. The grue-crew dive into their review of their film noting a variety of issue with the script, dialog and characters - even if Doc nervously calls it a guilty pleasure. Thomas digs into nearly every aspect of the film from Die Antwoord involvement to Hugh Jackman's character's motivation while Santos admits he at least enjoyed the effects for the Chappie robot.

Review: Housebound (2014)

The film that has been mentioned in many recent episodes is finally under the scrutiny of the Grue-crew. While The Black Saint mumbles about being forced to endure the film for a fourth time, the rest of the crew enjoy the film, the leads and the surprise endings. A festival favorite, HOUSEBOUND is now available on Netflix.

Review: The Lazarus Effect (2015)

While The Lazarus Effect seems to have all the right ingredients, an intriguing story and an impressive cast, the end results are no where near what was promised. Olivia Wilde, Mark Duplass, Evan Peters, Donald Glover and Sarah Bolger star in David Gelb's horror film from Blumhouse. Listen to the Grue-crew investigate what went wrong. And, what's this about no pants?

Review: The Voices (2015)

Director Marjane Satrapi delivers a far superior film with her dark horror comedy, The Voices starring Ryan Reynolds, Gemma Arterton, Anna Kendrick and Jacki Weaver. The film examines the effects of "voices" directing a troubled young man into making horrific and deadly decisions. Thomas and Dave share their thoughts on Reynolds terrific performance, the blend of drama, horror and comedy and the use of gore to illustrate why this film should appeal to most horror fans.
