Upon reviewing video footage from the States, the Vatican becomes convinced the Anti-Christ is possessing the body of a young American named Angela. THE VATICAN TAPES attempts to spin a unique yarn in the Exorcist vein and falls on its underdeveloped face. In the latest Marvel Cinematic Universe theatrical hit, ANT-MAN, Hank Pym (Michael Douglas) passes his technology and powers to the unlikeliest of heroes, sad-sack criminal Scott Lang (Paul Rudd) in what is essentially Marvel's heist comedy. The HNR grue-crew dive into the action to see if the latest offering is a minor success or a major flop.

Dave dishes a new plate of HORROR NEWS OF THE WEEK with the news about the giant monster manga offering Attack on Titan, details about Paz De La Huerta's law suit against the makers of Nurse 3D and a preview of Blumhouse teaming with Soska Sisters to bring horror fans the Hellavator. Review: Ant-Man (2015)

After the giant, over-the-top access of Avengers: The Age of Ultron, Marvel slides back into phase 1 like mode to bring audiences ANT-MAN. The film has a long history as writer-director Edgar Wright championed long and hard to bring Hank Pym and Scott Lang to the big screen. With Peyton Reed taking over the chair as director at the last minute, the film finally makes its way into theaters this weekend. The film is more intimate and sweet than most Marvel films offering a character driven action comedy with heart. How does the HNR grue-crew respond? Ah, that's where the fun begins.

What Have You Been Watching: Creep (2014)

Arriving to Netflix streaming this week is the Patrick Brice/Mark Duplass found footage joint CREEP. The movie follows a film maker hired to chronicle the day in the life of a dying man only to discover the subject of his day's work is a bit off, a bit twisted, a true...creep. Things quickly escalate as more and more terrifying secrets are revealed. As the grue-crew (outside of Doc) continue to harden their declining opinion on found footage, does the latest Blumhouse offering stand a chance? Perhaps it does...

Horror News of the Week for 07/20/2015

Dave shares the Horror News of the Week with news of a popular manga inspired film series finally making its way across the seas as the grue-crew examine the trailer for Attack on Titan. Another trailer follows with the body horror sequel Contracted: Phase 2. In bizarre real-life news, actress Paz De La Huerta is suing the producers behind Nurse 3D for actions that she claims is ruining her career. Blumhouse makes the news again as they team with the Soska Twins to produce the GSN TV horror-themed game show Hellavator. SyFy never to be too far behind the pack announces their bringing the boy bands Backstreet Boys & NSYNC together for the horror film Dead 7. Ha!

Review: The Gallows (2015)

Despite looking forward to seeing THE GALLOWS and hoping to enjoy another found footage theatrical release, even Doc Rotten is appalled by what crawled up onto the big screen and took a giant dump. Ugh. Thomas proclaims The Gallows the worst film of 2015. The Black Saint even thinks it out-stinks Area 51. It is a sad day at HNR. You are going to want to hear this one.

WB continues to amaze its captive audience with a trailer for Suicide Squad giving hungry fans a look at Deadshot, Amanda Waller, Harley Quinn and more. Oh, yeah, let's not forget Jared Leto as The Joker! On the Marvel side of the street, Ryan Reynolds teases and thrills audiences with a crazy red-band trailer for Deadpool. Win!

And, to no one's surprise, the weekend belongs to Star Wars VII. The main cast are all there including Mark Hamill, Carrie Fisher and Harrison Ford. While a new trailer is not in the cards just yet, director J.J. Abrams amazes with a behind the scene featurette that hits all the right notes. Excellent!

"I'm not afraid of the dark, I'm afraid of what's in it." - trailer for THE DARK (1979). This is one of those head-scratching genre films that littered the Seventies. Originally a straight up monster movie, the film was re-written as a sci-fi flick at the last minute replacing director Tobe Hooper with John "Bud" Cardos. How does that happen? The Black Saint and Doc Rotten tackle another groovy horror film from the 1970s.

Episode 20 – The Dark (1979)

The Dark has an extraordinary cast with everyone wondering just WTF is going on. The film features William Devane, Cathy Lee Crosby, Richard Jaeckel & Keenan Wynn in the headlining roles with Biff Eliot, Casey Kasem, John Bloom (as The Dark), Jacqueline Hydem, Vivian Blaine & Philip Michael Thomas (Miami Vice) as Corn Rows in supporting roles. The script has cop Jaeckel and writer Devane, the father of the first victim, bickering back and forth as they chase down the creature they call The Dark, a monstrous beast that shoots death rays from his eyes. Yup.

"Spitters are quitters and you don't strike me as a quitter, Dr. Bloom" - Mason Verger. There is very little that seems to shock Alana these day and Mason cannot seem to get under her skin no matter what he says. But, later an unintended phone conversation with Hannibal turns her pale skin stark white. Thomas Mariani, Dave Dreher, Christopher G. Moore and Doc Rotten gather to provide their first impressions of the fourth episode of Hannibal that aired June 26, 2015.

Hannibal Lecter is back this week and Inspector Pazzi meets his end. "Bowels in or bowels out. I think out." - Hannibal Lecter cuts to point. Shocking. But it may be the battle between Jack and Hannibal that makes the episode. That or Shiyo tossing Will Graham from a moving train. This is the first impression episode for Hannibal Season 3 Episode 5 of Hannibal called Contorno.

Review: i-Lived (2015)

Having enjoyed the Franck Khalfoun remake of Maniac - which was covered on one of the early episodes of HNR, the Grue-Crew was intrigued by his follow up feature, i-Lived. Sadly, however, the results were not as enthusiastic. Oh, my. While Thomas just comes out against the film the remaining crew try - oh, they try - to find something positive to say. Still, the discussion is lively and Santos points out that the review on HorrorNews.net proclaimed it one of the best of 2015. So...what do we know?
